At the present time Kharkov CDO is a parent organization for development of design and technological solutions in the development, modernization, technical re-equipment and repair of basic and auxiliary boiler and turbine equipment.

In the formation and development of our CDO we can point out some essential stages:

▼ 1956 - 1960 -             development of technical documents for manufacture of spare parts for turbines and boilers of foreign companies mounted at HPP of the USSR; reconstruction projects of individual assemblies and parts

 ▼ 1961 - 1975 -           development of projects, including complex ones, reconstruction of middle-pressure and high-pressure turbines as well as with the aim of increase of effectiveness and reliability, reconstruction projects of the high-pressure boilers for the increase of vapor capacity and efficiency, improvement of furnace and burner units;

                                      development of technical documents for repair of energy equipment;

 ▼ 1975 - 1984 -            development of reconstruction projects of turbines and boilers of generating units, including 200 and 300 MW ones, in order to increase effectiveness, reliability, maneuvering characteristics, decrease of harmful emissions into atmosphere; development of technical documents on repair of the turbines of nuclear power stations;

 ▼ 1985 - 1990 -            development of complex projects of technical re-equipment of generating units with capacity of 100, 160, 200 and 300 MW on the basis of modern solutions and participation in the making of new boilers of generating units with capacity of 200, 300 and 800 MW;

 ▼ 1991 -                       beginning of execution of resource investigations for high-temperature assemblies;

                                      beginning of works on the computerization of design and CAD implementation.

▼ с 2002г.  -         creation of new highly efficient and ecological boilers.

At the present time the computer-assisted design system is implemented on the basis of personal computers united into the general computer network.

In 1980 the complex of works of Kharkov CDO jointly with some design institutes on the transfer of condensing turbines to the combined generation of electrical and thermal power, which enabled to receive significant saving of fuel and decrease of capital investments, is awarded the Premium of the Council of Ministers of the USSR.

Kharkov CDO was one of initiators of preparation and realization of the technical re-equipment concept of basic energy equipment of HPP with its used resource. The principal emphasis was made hereby not on the 'equivalent' replacement, but on the new equipment of modern designs and effectiveness indices with minimal alteration of the available infrastructure.

Kharkov CDO took actively part in the preparation of prospective program of technical re-equipment, on the basis of which the Order of Ministry of Energy of the USSR No. 213 for 1995-2000 was issued concerning the replacements of basic obsolete assemblies of the generating units.

By Decision of State Committee of Ukraine on labor safety supervision No. 51 dated May 26, 1994 KhCDO is NPProved as a parent specialized organization in Ukraine on design, reconstruction, modernization, manufacture, maintainability and insertability of the steam boilers as well as containers under pressure. In accordance with intergovernmental agreements this decision does not cover all CIS-countries.

Kharkov CDO possesses the state license with the right to execute functions of General Designer in the field of reconstruction, modernization and technical re-equipment of basic, auxiliary equipment and pipeline systems of heat power stations.

In 2003 г. «Kotloturboprom» Ltd. and its branch KhCDO “Energoprogress” received Ukrainian certificate for the quality management system DSTU ISO 9001-2001 (ISO 9001:2000).

In 2005 we received international certificate of the quality management system ISO 9001:2000.
